We’re back!!

Annual DYC River Run – Sunday, July 18, 2021

We are grateful to everyone who came out today to support the Delaware Youth Center River Race.  To all the participants and all who helped make it happen, Thank You!!

You can find the results from today’s race here: River Run Results

We’re getting back to normal at the Delaware Youth Center — or as normal as things can be. That means the annual River Run is back on … with a few changes to keep our runners, walkers, and volunteers safe!

The number of runners and walkers will be limited in accordance with NYS COVID-19 safety guidelines, so sign up early to grab your spot!

Here’s what’s going on:

  • The 5K Run and Walk will be in person in 2021 on the beautiful River Road in Callicoon.
  • The 10K Run is off this year, but keep your eyes out for a return in the future.
  • Walkers will start at 8 a.m. and runners at 8:30 a.m.
  • Race time will be based on chip time, allowing for social distancing at the start
  • COVID requirements continue to relax – we will be following NYS guidelines.
  • Not sure you’re ready for an in-person race just yet? You can still participate in the Annual Gary A. Winglovitz Virtual Race!

All proceeds benefit the Delaware Youth Center.

Thank you

The Delaware Youth Center River Run is one of the largest and most vital fundraisers for our facility. This funding allows us to operate the facility and keep the Youth Center open for another generation of Callicoon-area kids.

Please review the website for all your race information. If you need more information, email Ann Santoro, the race director, at or call 845-887-4887.

We would like to thank all our sponsors and participants! We are humbled and grateful for all the support.

And a very special thank you to the entire Winglovitz team and family for their huge outpouring of support in memory of Gary Winglovitz. We greatly appreciate all you have done to honor Gary’s memory and to support the DYC!

Gary Winglovitz

The Gary A. Winglovitz Virtual Race began in 2019, named for one of our own: Gary Winglovitz, a kid who grew up in Cochecton and spent his childhood at the Delaware Youth Center. Gary died in 2014 at 41, and his family and friends have come out in force ever since to run the River Race in his memory.

Here’s how the virtual race works:

  • Choose your distance
  • Choose your course
  • Run, walk, or even bike anytime between July 18 and August 1
  • Share photos of your virtual run, and tag the Delaware Youth Center on social media
  • Support the Delaware Youth Center from anywhere in the world

In the past we’ve had participants as far away as Lima, Peru and Sydney, Australia in our virtual race. This year, we hope to see you join us from wherever you are!
